Recon on Corrupter Task Force

Following the assault on the Veltnor convoy, the Imperial presence within the Anoat sector altered their tactics. They shifted from proactive searching to establishing defensive positions focused on protecting convoys and isolated units. To obtain concrete intelligence regarding the Imperial search contingent, Rebel Admiral Nammo authorized a reconnaissance flight. Admiral Nammo also suspected Imperial deployment of probe droids in the area. Remembering the lessons learned at Hoth regarding their effectiveness, he authorized the destruction of any such droids encountered.

Two A-wings belonging to Blue Squadron, with Ace Azzameen among them, took off from the Defiance. They proceeded through several star systems considered potential locations for the Imperial search operation. The first two systems were devoid of Imperial presence. However, the third system contained the Corrupter Task Force. While Blue 1 provided aerial cover, Ace moved in to visually inspect each capital ship, identifying their designations and commanding officers.

After Ace completed his initial reconnaissance pass, the Corrupter began launching probe droids, followed by the Cerebus and the Vigiliance. Despite facing continuous fire from both the task force and enemy starfighters, Ace successfully destroyed all three groups of probe droids. With their mission objectives accomplished, Ace and Blue 1 disengaged from the combat zone.

The reconnaissance operation achieved its objectives, although the intelligence gathered did not fully meet expectations. Admiral Garreth Holtz, now identified as the commander of the Imperial search force, was known as a capable officer not accustomed to setbacks. The destruction of the probe droids significantly hampered the Imperial's ability to maintain surveillance of the surrounding systems. By the time they received replacements, the Defiance Task Force had successfully rejoined the main Rebel fleet.
