The Battle of the Kaer Orbital Platform transpired in the early stages of the Clone Wars.
Following shortly after the First Battle of Geonosis, Count Dooku sought to have his most reliable General, a Dark Acolyte known as Sev'rance Tann, assist the Confederacy of Independent Systems in rebuilding their droid forces.
Tann's assignment was the Kaer Orbital Platform, due to the significant quantity of resources present there—including ore, nova crystals, carbon, and food—left behind by the InterGalactic Banking Clan when they abandoned the station.
Sev'rance Tann arrived at the platform accompanied by a small contingent of B2 super battle droids and a single heavy hailfire droid, along with some power droids and Geonosian laborers. As they began their reconnaissance, they discovered an abandoned command center. Tann decided to establish a base there by sending a power droid to energize the center, while the workers constructed a troop center and utilized its forges to manufacture B2 super battle droids and Anti-Air Super Battle Droids. More Geonosian workers were bred inside the command center. Many mynocks attempted to draw power from the command center, but were eliminated by Geonosian hunters. Tann continued her scouting, uncovering substantial quantities of supplies and reactivating two mech factories. Her objective was to produce twenty DSD1 dwarf spider droids and 20 OG-9 homing spider droids. The seemingly straightforward mission was disrupted when a Republic taskforce, led by Jedi General Jor Drakas, appeared at the platform, transforming the mission into a full-scale battle. Despite this, Tann's forces managed to infiltrate the Republic base and destroy their vessels, prompting Jor Drakas to request reinforcements from a nearby fleet. Shortly after, Tann's newly formed droid army was complete, and Dooku dispatched Geonosian transports to transport the new forces to Tatooine and Raxus Prime before the Republic could seize and reclaim the orbital platform.
Following their escape from the station, Tann directed the DSD1 dwarf spider droids, the OG-9 homing spider droids, and the heavy hailfire droid, along with the Geonosian army, back to Raxus Prime. They were to be held in reserve for the conquest of Sarapin and its subsequent defense. Simultaneously, Sev'rance, accompanied by the super battle droids and some droidekas, embarked on a course to Tatooine for a mission to locate the Republic's most powerful weapon.
