In the year 3660 BBY, the Navy of the Galactic Republic mounted an attack on Korriban, the sacred planet of the Sith. This clash marked the third time the ancient burial world became a battleground during the Great Galactic War. The battle unfolded directly after the Sith Empire's unsuccessful conquest of Ord Radama, resulting in the annihilation of a substantial Imperial assault group. Following the defeat at Ord Radama, the Republic Navy chased the surviving Sith forces back to the Seat of The Empire, initiating a swift offensive against Korriban upon their arrival. Although Imperial forces attempted a counterattack, the Republic warships promptly withdrew from the Horuset system and reassembled above Ziost, the location of another battle.
