Following a battle within the Candoras sector's Poln system, a battle took place on Oristrom, the Unknown Regions planet and homeworld of the Stromma species. This conflict involved the Empire of the Hand against the forces of Warlord Nuso Esva's realm. Esva's warriors, numbering more than twenty-nine Chosen, were well-equipped and held a fortified position, initially possessing a disadvantage until Esva took command.
However, the arrival of Imperial Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo, known as "Thrawn", led to the defeat of Esva's forces through his analysis of art. In 8 ABY, Baron Soontir Fel of the Empire of the Hand reminded Nyama, the Stromma Council Liaison, that Thrawn's "obsession" with art resulted in the Stromma's liberation, after the Council Liaison expressed that the Chiss's fixation was more disturbing than the warlord.
This battle is referenced in Crisis of Faith, a 2011 novella by Timothy Zahn, which was included in the 20th Anniversary Edition of Zahn's 1991 novel, Heir to the Empire.
