"Ben Solo and the Bug Hunters – Chapter 1" represents the fourteenth installment within the Star Wars Roll Out series of animated shorts. Its initial release occurred on YouTube on March 18, 2020.
Ben Solo, a character known for his sweetness and tendency to create chaos, consistently disrupts the plans of his father, Han, and his Uncle Chewbacca. When he secretly joins their mission to capture crystal butterflies, a rival group of Bug Hunters discovers that Ben is the least of their worries!
The episode begins with Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Ben Solo proceeding through a park on wheels. Chewbacca ascends a tree adorned with yellow leaves and shakes it, resulting in a shower of green fruits. Mimicking the adults, Ben shakes a tree with purple leaves, inadvertently dislodging several centipedes.
Subsequently, Han and Chewbacca transport several green crystals out of a cave. In an attempt to assist, Ben throws a thermal detonator into the cave, triggering an explosion that leaves them all bruised and burned. Ben responds with laughter. Later, Han and Chewbacca are testing the crystals with a machine, but Ben interrupts their work.
Later that night, Han and Chewbacca formulate a plan to journey to a planet in search of more crystals. Shortly after, Leia Organa enters the room, only to discover Ben scribbling with crayons, much to everyone's irritation.
The following morning, Han departs while Leia is asleep to begin their quest for crystal butterflies. Unbeknownst to them, Ben trails them through the turbolift. He then navigates a tunnel to reach the Millennium Falcon and secretly boards the ship. Han and Chewbacca leave Chandrila aboard the Falcon and enter hyperspace.
While Han and Chewbacca are at rest, they are awakened by a sudden jolt of the ship. Han and Chewbacca discover Ben in the cockpit. After restraining him and providing him with toys, the two embark on their crystal hunt. They ascend a mountain and locate some honey. However, the two are trapped inside a net.
