Bey'wan Aygo

Bey'wan Aygo, a Bothan male, achieved the rank of Fleet Admiral within the Republic Navy during the periods of the Cold War and the Galactic War against the reconstituted Sith Empire. Although born to parents who were artists, witnessing a space engagement above his homeworld inspired Aygo to pursue a career in interstellar combat instead. He earned recognition for his actions during the Battle of Kuat. Aygo was eventually promoted to fleet admiral of the Republic First Fleet, where he fostered a supportive and encouraging environment among his crew.

During the Galactic Republic's conflict with the Eternal Empire, he formulated numerous strategies for counterattacks; however, these were all dismissed by Supreme Chancellor Leontyne Saresh, who was more focused on the conflict with the Sith Empire. Subsequently, he was relieved of his duties in the navy. Following the Republic's defeat by the Eternal Empire, he became a member of the emerging resistance organization known as the Alliance on the planet Odessen, assuming the position of head of Military Operations.

After enlisting with the Eternal Alliance, Aygo entered into a wager with the Alliance's Juvard Illip Oggurobb. The terms of the bet were that if Aygo's most powerful battleship failed to penetrate Odessen's planetary shield, which had been constructed by Oggurobb, Aygo would owe Oggurobb a debt. The planetary shield successfully repelled the assault, resulting in Oggurobb winning the bet.

Behind the scenes

Bey'wan Aygo holds the distinction of being the first Bothan character introduced in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic. In Star Wars: The Old Republic: Onslaught, even if the player character is Imperial and chooses the Saboteur role, Aygo makes the decision to retire, selecting Tessa Pardax as the person to succeed him. His voice acting is performed by Steve Blum.
