Juvard Illip Oggurobb

Juvard Illip Oggurobb, who was briefly known as Lippi, was a male Hutt originating from the Illip clan. A scientist and also an inventor, he pioneered several significant advancements in droid engineering. Doctor Oggurobb's life occurred before the renewed war between the Galactic Republic and the resurgent Sith Empire, and he was awarded the Bao-Dur Science Prize five times. He went with the Supreme Mogul Toborro to Makeb during the Hutt Cartel's takeover in 3638 BBY. Some years later, he became the Head Scientist of the Eternal Alliance.

Biography

Early life

Juvard, a member of the Illip Hutt clan, chose to become a droid engineer, which was seen as an unusual career path for a Hutt. Oggurobb quickly achieved several major breakthroughs in droid engineering and received the Bao-Dur Science Prize on five separate occasions. The Hutt Cartel's new Supreme Mogul, Toborro, soon noticed his accomplishments and recruited him to assist the Cartel during their invasion of Makeb.

Makeb

When the Galactic Republic intervened to defend the people of Makeb against the Hutts and the InterStellar Regulators, the planet's former defense force, Oggurobb urged Toborro to be reasonable when Republic forces seized the Ark to evacuate Makeb's inhabitants, as the planet's destruction became imminent. Toborro, consumed by paranoia and madness, refused, leaving Oggurobb with no other option than to offer his expertise and services to the Republic in exchange for safe passage off Makeb. He informed the Republic about the nature of isotope-5, a rare substance discovered during the Hutts' deep-core mining operations, and explained that the Ark required the isotope-5 fuel rods he had created to function.

As the Republic forces prepared to confront Toborro, Oggurobb revealed the existence of a secret entrance into Toborro's Palace that even the Hutt leader was unaware of. With Oggurobb's assistance, the Republic team infiltrated Toborro's palace, defeated the insane Hutt and his monstrous droid creation, and recovered the fuel rods for the Ark. Oggurobb was aboard the Ark, maintaining its power levels, as it departed from Makeb's surface.

Following the conflict, Oggurobb became the official liaison between the Cartel and the Galactic Republic, a role he found bothersome.

Eternal Alliance

Five years afterward, Oggurobb became a member of the Alliance to lend his scientific skills in the fight against the Eternal Empire, and also to recruit experts in various scientific fields. Oggurobb requested permission from the Alliance Commander to conduct non-lethal experiments on C2-N2 and 2V-R8 using isotope-5, with the goal of creating droids capable of combating skytroopers. During his experiments, Oggurobb's team managed to recover the severely damaged and deactivated HK-55. After making a few adjustments to the chassis, they were able to reactivate the bodyguard droid. However, they were unable to repair his memory core, necessitating its replacement. As a result, the droid had no recollection of his previous adventures before being reactivated in Oggurobb's lab.

Oggurobb played a crucial role in the design of the Eternal Alliance's planetary shield. Its effectiveness was put to the test when Bey'wan Aygo of the Alliance's Military Operations challenged Oggurobb to a wager. If Aygo's most powerful battleship failed to penetrate Odessen's planetary shield, Aygo would owe Oggurobb a debt. The planetary shield withstood the assault, and Oggurobb won the bet.

Personality and traits

Juvard pursued a career as a doctor/scientist, which was unusual for Hutts, who typically became crime lords. Juvard also seemed to have a strong sense of self-confidence and referred to himself as an artist. However, unlike his employer, Toborro, he possessed a self-preservation instinct.

Juvard, like others of his species, was quite large. His skin was purple, and he had blue tattoos on his chest. He also wore a computer interface visor over his right eye.

Juvard was proficient in both Huttese and Basic, although Hutts generally preferred to communicate in Huttese. However, Juvard would switch to Basic when interacting with other sentients to prevent misunderstandings.

Equipment

Like other Hutts who needed to interact with technology during the Old Republic era, such as Kabbura and Qiltakka, Juvard wore a computer interface visor that was attached to the right side of his head and covered his right eye.

Behind the scenes

Oggurobb was first mentioned in the 2012 reference book Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia. Players who pre-ordered Star Wars: The Old Republic: Rise of the Hutt Cartel, the first digital expansion for the BioWare-LucasArts video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, received an exclusive holostatue of Oggurobb as a pre-order bonus, which was released on April 14, 2013. The holostatue serves as a Class Trainer for all classes, both Republic and Imperial.

In Rise of the Hutt Cartel, Oggurobb initially identified himself as "Lippi," a play on his kajidic, Illip. His voice is provided by Fred Tatasciore.
