Behind the scenes

The initial reference to Bimmiel within the existing Star Wars canon appeared on a galactic map featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game. This was a boxed set released in 2016 for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Roleplaying product line. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet called Bimmiel made its debut in The New Jedi Order: Dark Tide I: Onslaught, a novel from 2000 by Michael A. Stackpole. This novel served as the second book in the Star Wars: The New Jedi Order series. Subsequently, the planet was visually represented for the first time in "Making the Map," an article written by Daniel Wallace for the sixty-fifth issue of Star Wars Insider magazine, released on January 21, 2003.
