Biurk held the rank of captain and was a Devaronian in command of the Shamunaar during the time of the Second Galactic Civil War. The Shamunaar served as the flagship for the picket screen, tasked with observing the Bothans. These Bothans had announced their allegiance to Corellia and were preparing attack fleets, actions closely watched by the Galactic Alliance. The Shamunaar's role was to provide early warning to fleet units, including those involved in the Blockade of Corellia, should the Bothans try to exit their system.
Nevertheless, Biurk's assignment faced disruption when Lumiya orchestrated the escape of Admiral Matric Klauskin, who was under the sway of the Sith, from the mental institution where he was held. Klauskin made his way to the picket screen and deceived Biurk, convincing him that his command was infiltrated by traitors. Klauskin successfully isolated the Shamunaar as the sole vessel in the picket screen, by transferring and then arresting each alleged 'traitor' to locations away from the ship. Klauskin, while running a simulation with the crew of the frigate, confined himself and Biurk within the auxiliary bridge. Immediately after Biurk spoke the commands necessary to operate the ship, Klauskin fatally shot him three times. Following this, he opened all the ship's hatches, exposing everything except the auxiliary bridge to the vacuum of space. Consequently, the freed Bothan fleet was able to depart the system and breach the Blockade.
