Matric Klauskin, hailing from Commenor, was a Human male. By 40 ABY, he had achieved the rank of admiral within the Galactic Alliance Defense Fleet. He commanded the Dodonna, and also led the Second Fleet task force during the invasion of the Corellian system, which resulted in the occupation of Tralus.
Klauskin, a Commenor native, experienced a peculiar situation: visitations from his deceased wife, Edela. These apparitions, orchestrated remotely by the Sith Lumiya, manipulated him into actions intended to instigate conflict between the Galactic Alliance and Corellia. One such action was the disastrous Operation Roundabout, involving his invasion of Tralus. Following this operation, his aide, Fiav Fenn, discovered him lamenting the loss of his wife. Subsequently, Tarla Limpan replaced him, and he was admitted to a hospital on Coruscant.
Klauskin's involvement in subsequent events proved significant. Commenor, his homeworld, had expressed support for Corellia under the leadership of Fyor Rodan. Lumiya, seeing an opportunity to draw Commenor further into the conflict, reappeared to him as Edela. She then manipulated him into escaping the hospital and traveling to the Galactic Alliance scout screen near Bothawui, whose three assault fleets had pledged allegiance to Corellia. Using deception, Klauskin boarded the Shamunaar and convinced the ship's commander, Biurk, to recall the defense screen. He then killed the captain and exposed the entire ship to the vacuum of space, killing the crew, while he remained safe on the auxiliary bridge. Afterward, he surrendered the ship to the Bothans and Tathak K'roylan, whose fleets then attacked the Galactic Alliance's Blockade of Corellia, breaking their control of the system.
Following Commenor's own successful assault on the blockade, Matric Klauskin returned to his home planet, where he received accolades as a hero and subsequently retired.
The character of Matric Klauskin was initially conceived as a supporting character for Legacy of the Force: Betrayal, the first book in the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force series, which was authored by Aaron Allston. He later made an appearance in Legacy of the Force: Exile, the fourth book in the series and the second written by Allston.
