Dodonna functioned as a Galactic-class battle carrier within the Galactic Alliance Defense Fleet.
This vessel received its name in honor of General Jan Dodonna, a celebrated figure from the Alliance to Restore the Republic. While possessing a length comparable to that of an Imperial star destroyer, it exhibited a greater breadth and a mass exceeding the Imperial design by fifty percent. The designation "battle carrier" seemed more of a political choice than a practical one, because the design brought to mind earlier Star Destroyers, but with a more contemporary design.
Admiral Matric Klauskin held command of it, and it served as a command ship during the Battle of Tralus in 40 ABY. Additional officers serving on board included Colonel Moyan, Colonel Fiav Fenn, and Admiral Tarla Limpan.
During the events of the Second Galactic Civil War, the vessel was compelled to withdraw from Corellia following an attack by naval assets from Bothan and Commenorian forces. After dealing significant damage to Centerpoint Station, the Dodonna executed a jump to the designated meeting point with the Anakin Solo and the Blue Diver. Following Admiral Tarla Limpan's transfer of her command to the Blue Diver, the Dodonna was ordered back to Coruscant.
