Bonagal was a planetary body situated within the Mandalore sector of the Outer Rim Territories, as documented in legends. Specifically, Bonagal was found in the Mandalore system, where it revolved in the seventh orbit around the system's central star, known as Mandalore. Its orbital position placed it between the planets Mandallia and Shukut. Being a gas giant, Bonagal was accompanied by a total of thirty-four moons.
Following Mandalore the First's Taung armies' migration from Roon and subsequent conquest of the previously uninhabited planet that would become Mandalore, the now-named Mandalorians expanded their reach, seizing control of other planets in the immediate system, including Bonagal.
The planet Bonagal made its initial appearance in Star Wars canon within the pages of The Essential Atlas, a reference work published in 2009 and authored by Daniel Wallace together with Jason Fry.
