In the year 6 ABY, Brin Stiels found himself stationed at Observation Post W-16, which was a New Republic installation situated on the planet Cadinth. While he was idly fantasizing about hitting it big in a game of sabacc, the forces of the Galactic Empire launched an assault upon the outpost. The Imperial forces made use of All Terrain Armored Transports, along with AP-1-C attack droids, AP-2 attack droids, AP-3 attack droids, and Sniper airspeeders. Stiels proceeded to contact the Republic Core Base, asking for confirmation regarding the airspeeders, as he was unsure of their identity, purpose, or affiliation. This communication was abruptly terminated when the Imperials initiated fire on his turret, easily breaching its armor.
Once the Imperial droids moved within firing range and began to engage the Republic vehicles, Stiels quickly understood that the attacking group was not composed of pirates. As the Imperial droids pressed their attack, Stiels attempted once more to establish contact with the Republic Core Base, but received no reply. He then succumbed to the overwhelming amount of thick smoke in the area and lost consciousness.
