"The Marshal," an alias for Buck Vancto, was a Surpossian marshal operating throughout the Galactic Empire's imperial era. From approximately 8 BBY to 2 BBY, Vancto was in pursuit of the smuggler Han Solo, who was at the time executing a heist on behalf of Jabba the Hutt.
The character Buck Vancto was conceived for the Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca comic series, penned by Marc Guggenheim. Vancto's debut was in the inaugural issue, released on March 9, 2022.
