Buryn

Buryn was a male Togruta who served the Republic Military during the Great Galactic War, a conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. He held the position of theater commander for the Battle of Balmorra in 3653 BBY, a protracted struggle between the Republic and the Empire to control the planet's valuable resources and manufacturing infrastructure. During the battle for Balmorra, the Dark Council of the Sith Empire proposed a peace agreement to the Republic. Upon the acceptance of this proposal and the subsequent ratification and implementation of the Treaty of Coruscant, which ended the Great War, all Republic Military forces were ordered to stand down, including General Buryn's forces on Balmorra.

As the Togruta attempted to assemble his commanders in preparation for departure from the warzone, Jedi Knight Fortris Gall defied the General and the Treaty by initiating a clandestine rescue operation targeting a Sith military base. Gall's audacious assault compelled Buryn and his troops to remain stationed on the planet, thereby transforming the already complex Balmorra conflict into one of the initial skirmishes of the post-Great Galactic War era of political unrest.

Biography

Following the signing of the Treaty of Coruscant, Buryn was present at Republic Base 11A on Balmorra, engaged in discussions with several Jedi concerning the troop withdrawal directives issued after the Treaty of Coruscant was formalized. A Jedi by the name of Fortris Gall had been formulating a plan for a rescue operation aimed at freeing Demolitions Squad 419 from their captivity under the Sith Empire. After Buryn advised Fortris against pursuing the rescue attempt, Fortris excused himself, stating his intention to simply observe the stars outside.

However, Fortris actually proceeded to the Troida Military Workshop, the location where Squad 419 was being held prisoner. After besting a Sith guard in a duel, Fortris successfully managed to liberate the captive demolitions team.
