The initial reference to Chadian rum within the new Star Wars canon occurred in Queen's Hope, a young adult book authored by E. K. Johnston. Its first publication was in German on January 25, 2022, followed by its English release on April 5 of the same year. In the former Star Wars Legends timeline, Chadian rum debuted within the short story, "A Credit for Your Thoughts," penned by Tish Eggleston Pahl and Chris Cassidy, and featured in Star Wars Gamer 2 in February 2001.
