The Namrelllew was a Wookiee-built starship that transported Republic Senator Padmé Amidala, along with her Head of Security, Captain Gregar Typho. They embarked on a secret assignment to Hebekrr Minor in 22 BBY, during the initial weeks of the Clone Wars.
The Namrelllew was an older vessel by the time the Clone Wars began in 22 BBY. Nevertheless, its Wookiee craftsmanship ensured exceptional durability. Notably, its air purification systems surpassed those manufactured on Naboo, providing recycled air that was free of particles and had a remarkably fresh scent.
The starship offered a luxurious experience, although its Wookiee-centric design might have been peculiar to human passengers. For instance, the beds were exceptionally long, hot-air dryers replaced traditional towels, and some adult humans required a stool to access the higher sinks in the refreshers. Captain Typho remarked that the cabins were more spacious than any barracks he had previously occupied. Human access to the flight deck's control panels, easily reachable for Wookiees, demanded significant stretching. Constructed from cool metal, the ship's hull vibrated subtly during hyperspace travel.
Naijoh, the pilot, and Rayyne, the navigator, a married Wookiee couple, jointly captained the Namrelllew. They were known for their seamless teamwork, each relying on the other's skills for safe journeys and unwavering confidence in their abilities. Idda, a Mriss was the ship's engineer, and G-1FY functioned as its protocol droid.
Shortly after the Clone Wars commenced in 22 BBY, an enigmatic figure contacted the Jedi, requesting a meeting with a Republic senator aboard a resupply vessel. Yoda conveyed this request to Bail Prestor Organa, a close ally of the Jedi within the Senate, who then consulted his faction on the matter. Senator Amidala volunteered for the mission, enabling one of her body doubles to remain on Coruscant and maintain her public presence.
Captain Typho chose the Namrelllew for the mission. The ship was en route to Hebekrr Minor with supplies and required security due to the ongoing siege by Separatist forces against the planet's main city, defended by the Republic Army. The ship's cargo included essential medical supplies, Raadan shurgrain, Karlini tea, and Chadian rum. Senator Amidala and Captain Typho utilized one of the Namrelllew's shuttles to deliver the supplies to the planet's surface. Subsequently, they employed the shuttle to transport Clone Commander Sticks and six clone troopers behind enemy lines to rescue five relatives of the planet's magistrate who had been abducted by the Separatists. Piloting the shuttle, Captain Typho leveraged the Namrelllew's neutral status to persuade the Separatists to grant them safe passage behind enemy lines, leading to the successful completion of the extraction.
Upon returning to the Namrelllew, G-1FY confined Captain Typho to his quarters and escorted Senator Amidala to a secluded room for a hologram conversation with the Neimoidian Oje N'deeb. N'deeb revealed himself as the individual who had requested the senator's presence (and secretly, the employer of G-1FY). N'deeb explained that he was the leader of a group within the Trade Federation seeking to seize control from Viceroy Nute Gunray and his allies, believing their warmongering had tarnished the Trade Federation's image. Senator Amidala, after her initial reservations, recognized the sincerity of his proposition and agreed to assist him.
The Wookiee captains of the Namrelllew returned Senator Amidala and Captain Typho to Coruscant, where they parted ways (although Idda clung to the Senator's leg for a considerable time). The crew of the Namrelllew then intended to find cargo on Coruscant to transport back to the Outer Rim Territories.
E. K. Johnston, the author of Queen's Hope, devised the name Namrelllew by reversing and adding an extra 'L' to the name of the vessel in the sea shanty "The Wellerman," which became popular on TikTok in early 2021 while Johnston was writing the book. The Namrelllew's cargo—sugar, tea, and rum—mirrored that of the Wellerman. The song sung by Idda on board the Namrelllew, described as "an unreasonably upbeat song about a family of large predatory fish," was also a reference to the 'Baby Shark' song. Although the TikToks were later removed, Johnston, when asked for the purpose of citing the information for Wookieepedia, confirmed the details that had been on Namrellew's page, including the origin of the ship's name and the song sung on it.
