Lieutenant Commander Chaen distinguished himself as a Black Sun starfighter ace during the era of the Galactic Civil War. In the year 1 ABY, he shared command duties with Lieutenant Commander Ondara, overseeing the Dual Moons, which were two starfighter bases belonging to Black Sun, located within the Bright Jewel system. Chaen met his death during the Battle of Tansarii Point Station, falling to the forces of Dartas Pytin's Car'das group.
Chaen appeared as a non-player character within the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was created by Sony Online Entertainment and published under the LucasArts banner. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. Chaen's inclusion in the game was part of what was called the "New Player Tutorial," which was introduced when "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," was released on November 15, 2005.
