Charnoqs were a species that naturally occurred on the planet of Maridun. The Amanin, a sentient species also from Maridun, engaged in hunting them.
The Charnoqs' beginnings can be traced back to the Star Wars Legends continuity. Their initial mention was in Galaxy Guide 12: Aliens — Enemies and Allies, a roleplaying game supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. This supplement was released by West End Games during 1995. Within the new Star Wars canon, the Charnoqs were initially referenced in "Mustafar and Other Planets in the Outer Rim," a 2022 booklet belonging to the Star Wars Encyclopedia reference series.
