Maridun

Maridun, situated in the Rolion sector within the Outer Rim Territories, was a planet. This world was characterized by its moderate temperatures and lush greenery, offering a pleasant climate despite its complex ecosystem and hazardous predators. The Amanin called this place home, a landscape marked by expansive grassy plains dotted with sizable seed pods, and it was also inhabited by mastiff phalones.

Description

Located within its own star system, also named Maridun, which itself resides within the Rolion sector of the Outer Rim Territories, the planet was situated at grid coordinate Q-6 on the Standard Galactic Grid. Maridun was an unremarkable world. Its gently rolling terrain was covered in vast grasslands. Maridun largely avoided significant events throughout galactic history due to its limited value to off-world industries. Unlike planets such as Lothal, Maridun lacked valuable surface-level resources for mining, instead possessing seemingly endless fields of grass.

Despite its intricate ecosystem and dangerous [predators](/article/diet], Maridun maintained a breathable atmosphere and a temperate climate. The grasses on Maridun grew tall, reaching heights of over two [meters](/article/meter]. Interspersed within these grasslands were massive trees, concentrated in areas where water was readily accessible near the surface. These trees were thick and deep-rooted, formed by multiple trees growing together and merging over time. The Amani inhabited the planet and hunted Charnoqs. The dangerous mastiff phalones roamed throughout the fields.

History

Lurmen refugees, fleeing the Clone Wars, sought refuge on the planet, aiming to establish peaceful lives away from prying eyes. During the conflict, Republic survivors from the Battle of Quell crash-landed there, discovering the Lurmen village. Soon after, Separatist General Lok Durd arrived, seeking an alliance with the Lurmen while secretly planning to test a new weapon, the Defoliator, on them. The Jedi present uncovered this plot and defended the Lurmen village when Durd betrayed them. They united the villagers, neutralized the Defoliator, and captured Durd before three Star Destroyers arrived to extract them.
