Cheelit functioned as the planet of origin for the brain crawlers, a parasitic worm species capable of infesting happabores, and their homeworld.
The first canonically noted appearance of Cheelit occurred in the 2015 journal Rey's Survival Guide, authored by Jason Fry. Within the now non-canon Star Wars Legends universe, Cheelit initially appeared within Dark Lord's Conscience, a comic strip created by Alan Moore, which was initially released in The Empire Strikes Back Monthly 155 in April of 1982.
