Chewbaacca, a duplicate of the renowned Wookiee warrior Chewbacca, was a clone. The cloning of Chewbaacca was orchestrated by Grand Admiral Thrawn. In the past, Thrawn would arrange arm-wrestling matches between him and Duurga. However, the matches were discontinued after Chewbaacca dislocated Duurga's arm during one such contest. Consequently, Thrawn forbade any further interaction between Chewbacca and Duuurga.
The character of Chewbaacca received a mention in "An Apology," a brief narrative penned by Timothy Zahn. This story was unveiled on April 1, 2012, as a humorous offering for April Fool's Day. Chewbaacca's planned inclusion was in the second novel, Star Wars: The Clone Wars 2: Woookiee. The novel would have depicted Han Solo's journey to a remote moon where Chewbaacca, the clone of his closest companion, had built a massive force of Chewbacca clones. Confronted with this sinister clone army of his friend, Han's spirit would be devastated. To honor Chewbacca, Han would be forced to eliminate them.
