Duurga, a replication of the Hutt known as Durga Besadii Tai, was generated through cloning by Grand Admiral Thrawn sometime between the years of 11 ABY and 25 ABY. Thrawn found amusement in orchestrating arm-wrestling matches between Duurga and the clone Chewbaacca, which ceased when Chewbaacca forcibly removed one of Duurga's arms.

The clone known as Duurga came into being via genetic material harvested from the Hutt crime lord Durga Besadii Tai. This material was acquired by the clone Luuke Skywalker during the period spanning 11 ABY to 25 ABY. After Skywalker's failed attempt to secure a biological sample from the specter of Sith Lord Exar Kun for his superior, Grand Admiral Thrawn, he sought to appease Thrawn by presenting him with Durga's genetic information, which Thrawn then utilized to produce Duurga. Skywalker did not comprehend Thrawn's motivations for keeping Duurga, but he suspected that the Hutt clone served some purpose in regulating the frog population within the swamp situated behind Thrawn's palace.
Around or after 25 ABY, Thrawn fashioned a replica of the deceased Wookiee Chewbacca, named Chewbaacca, whom he delighted in matching up against Duurga in arm-wrestling competitions. Ultimately, Chewbaacca ripped off one of Duurga's arms, which resulted in Thrawn discontinuing the contests. The Grand Admiral also engineered another clone, Duuurga, and forbade Chewbaacca from approaching it.
Duurga received a mention in "An Apology," a non-canon short story authored by Timothy Zahn. This story was published online through Suvudu on April 1, 2012 as a humorous April Fools' Day gag.
