Chouch, a human colonel of the female persuasion, was a member of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In the aftermath of the Battle of Hoth, she took charge of the Ground Defense Command, tasked with safeguarding the Alliance Fleet's Eleventh Division which found itself stranded on Ab Dalis. Subsequent to sending out a request for backup, she was notified by a corporal that Starlight Squadron had arrived to offer assistance.
