Christopher Lee


Knight Bachelor Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee, a CBE and CStJ, (born on May 27, 1922; died on June 7, 2015) was the performer who embodied Count Dooku, also known as Darth Tyranus, within the 2002 motion picture Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones and the 2005 movie Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith; additionally, he lent his voice to the same character for the 2008 animated feature, Star Wars: The Clone Wars film.

Lee gained recognition for his participation in horror movies created by Hammer Studios alongside Peter Cushing, who played Grand Moff Tarkin in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. He also played the antagonist Francisco Scaramanga in The Man With the Golden Gun, a James Bond film starring Roger Moore, portrayed Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, in the 1998 film Jinnah, and took on the role of the wizard Saruman in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Lee received his knighthood on June 13, 2009, as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

Sir Christopher Lee as Count Dooku

In both Episode II Attack of the Clones and Episode III Revenge of the Sith, Sir Christopher Lee embodied the Serennian Count Dooku. He reprised his role as Dooku in the animated movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars, providing the voice for the character.

After being admitted to a hospital due to respiratory issues stemming from heart failure, Sir Christopher Lee passed away on June 7, 2015, at the age of 93.

Harriet Walter, Lee's niece, made an appearance in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens as Doctor Harter Kalonia.
