Ciratu, a star situated within the star system bearing its name, resided within the Immerian Outback sector of the Expansion Region. This location was distant from the established trade routes of the region. Six orbs composed of rock and iron, called the Ciratu Spheres, orbited it. These spheres, riddled with tunnels, were thought to be the creation of an ancient species known as the Celestials.
Originally, Ciratu was intended to be included in the 2012 reference work, The Essential Guide to Warfare, authored by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart. However, the sidebar mentioning the star was removed before the book's publication. Subsequently, in 2013, details about Ciratu were made available as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut. This was a collection of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Jason Fry and Erich Schoeneweiss, featuring content excised from The Essential Guide to Warfare. The Essential Atlas Online Companion located the star at grid square N-14.
