Code of the Sith

Sith Code scroll The Sith Code in Aurebesh The central doctrine of the Sith was articulated in the Code of the Sith, also referred to as Qotsisajak. This served as a guiding principle, fundamentally opposed to the Jedi Code which dictated the behavior of members within the Jedi Order. A key tenet was the belief in the strong's right to eliminate the weak.

The Actual Words

Certain iterations of the Code include a repetition of the opening statement, "Peace is a lie," following the line "The Force shall free me."

Context and History

The Sith Code's initial appearance within Star Wars canon occurred in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode titled "Altar of Mortis." David Gaider originally conceived the Code of the Sith, and he crafted it for the Korriban section of the Star Wars Legends 2003 video game, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Gaider's initial inquiry to Lucasfilm was whether the Sith possessed a formal creed akin to that of the Jedi. Upon being tasked with creating one specifically for the game, Gaider essentially inverted the existing Jedi Code. He supplemented this with a Sith philosophical framework partly drawing inspiration from Mein Kampf, the notorious autobiographical work penned by Nazi leader Adolf Hitler in 1925.
