Comm 4, a communications satellite, was deployed by the Trade Federation during their invasion of the planet Naboo in 32 BBY. Its purpose was to redirect the control signal originating from the Droid Control Ship to a droid base. Positioned in orbit around Naboo, Comm 4 was heavily defended by shields generated by three nearby slave satellites. Furthermore, Comm 4 possessed multiple missile launchers for self-defense in the event of shield failure. A contingent of droid starfighters also contributed to its protection. Ultimately, it was destroyed in an orbital attack carried out by the Naboo resistance, who were actively opposing the Trade Federation Droid Army. The destruction of Comm 4 caused a temporary shutdown of the base it oversaw, which then enabled the resistance to assault it.
The 2000 video game Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo features the Comm 4 satellite in one of its missions. The mission's main goal is the satellite's destruction.
