A fortification, constructed by the Trade Federation, was rendered inoperable and subsequently assaulted by the Royal Naboo Security Forces in the initial stages of the Invasion of Naboo. This base was heavily fortified and its operations were managed by the Trade Federation's communication network through Comm 4, an orbiting satellite.
Nestled within the icy glaciers of the planet Naboo was a Trade Federation facility. The main components of the base comprised six platforms, each equipped with laser turrets, missile launchers, and other structures. A deflector shield generator provided protection for the base's command center. The source of the Andrevea River was located nearby, with a wall and aquatic mines obstructing further passage downstream. A landing platform was available for C-9979 landing craft. Droid starfighters were stationed at the base, which was under the command of Neimoidians and droids. Instructions originating from the Central Control Computer were relayed through the orbital communications satellite designated Comm 4. The base would enter a dormant state if the Trade Federation's comm web was disrupted.
The Trade Federation seized control of several local settlements, installing laser turrets in their vicinity. In one such settlement, situated in a canyon alcove near the control center, a building had been destroyed by fire, revealing the advanced bomb technology it housed. During his squadron's attack on the base, Lieutenant Gavyn Sykes discovered and acquired this technology.
The base was established in 32 BBY when the Trade Federation Droid Army initiated their invasion of Naboo. During the invasion, the Naboo resistance devised a strategy to retaliate against the Trade Federation and liberate their people from slave camps. The plan involved disabling Comm 4 to temporarily sever the installation's connection to the Central Control Computer, effectively shutting down the base. After destroying Comm 4, Naboo pilots descended from orbit and launched attacks on the base. Unexpectedly, the Federation's defenses reactivated, engaging the Naboo ships. Simultaneously, a C-9979 landing craft took off. Several droid starfighters also launched to confront the Naboo pilots. The pilots, advancing towards the command center, left much of the base in ruins. Upon reaching the command center, Lieutenant Sykes destroyed the shield generator that protected it. He then received orders to land his N-1 starfighter and commandeer a gunboat to navigate the river and free Federation slave camps. His wingmen departed the base before enemy reinforcements could arrive.
This base is featured in a mission within the 2000 LucasArts video game Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo. The player's objective involves the destruction of all Federation targets. Acquiring the upgrade fulfills the bonus objective of the mission.
