This nursery was managed by surrogate Hutt pouch-mothers responsible for nurturing the huttlets within their brood pouches. Approximately one year prior to the Battle of Yavin, Jabba Desilijic Tiure tried to persuade his aunt, Jiliac Desilijic Tiron, to enroll her huttlet in a communal nursery on a daily basis, with the aim of enabling her to better dedicate herself to her responsibilities as the head of the Desilijic kajidic.
