Cremp was a commander in the Galactic Empire's Tarkin Initiative. This female human served on the Star Destroyer called the Optima. During an inspection visit to the Optima by Governor Wilhuff Tarkin, a wayward transport collided with their vessel, unleashing a being onto the ship. This being, solely focused on hunting Tarkin, underwent a transformation after Tarkin's escape and the placement of explosives on the Optima. It abandoned its killer instincts and assisted Cremp in her escape. Subsequently, the Imperial encountered Mon Mothma and enlisted in the Rebel Alliance. Cremp then recounted her experiences to Lieutenant Thom Hudd before his departure for Mustafar.
