CSPL-12 projectile launcher
The CSPL-12 projectile launcher was a projectile launcher for personal use, produced by BlasTech Industries.
Description
The CSPL-12, from BlasTech Industries, was a projectile launcher designed for individual operators, capable of firing a variety of specialized canisters depending on the tactical situation. These canisters could be stored either within the launcher itself, or in the weapon's magazine, which had a capacity for four additional canisters. The PL/1G adapter offered the capability to modify the CSPL-12 to launch grenades.
The CSPL-12 could launch different types of canisters, including: a dye canister capable of marking terrain within a ten-meter radius; a smoke canister for obscuring vision and marking terrain; a T-238 canister that caused nausea and incapacitation; CryoBan canisters that froze and incapacitated targets; Plank Gas canisters that inflicted corrosive damage; Spore/B canisters which induced unconsciousness using Bothan stun spores; and a Fex-M3 canister that released deadly nerve gas.
A known issue with the CSPL-12 was its tendency to jam, resulting in the ignition of the canister within the chamber. However, investigations revealed that this was typically due to inadequate cleaning and maintenance by the soldier using the weapon. Specifically, the accumulation of dirt in the canister's primary pin was identified as the cause of the weapon malfunctions.
History
During an Imperial operation on the planet Lafra, a CSPL-12 jammed and ignited due to poor maintenance, leading to the death of General Azarin.
During the Battle of Endor, a CSPL launcher was employed by the Alliance to Restore the Republic strike team that infiltrated the Endor moon. Corporal [Delevar] used it to deploy smoke, hindering the crew of an All Terrain Scout Transport as the squad advanced toward the shield bunker.
The design of the Relby-v10 micro grenade launcher was derived from the CSPL-12.
