Culroonian

The original inhabitants of Culroon III were the Culroonians. A campaign unfolded on Culroon III between the Culroonians and the forces of the Empire to suppress an uprising, occurring not long before the Battle of Hoth which took place in 3 ABY. Representing the Empire, the human male Maximilian Veers engaged the Culroonians in combat, displaying remarkable cunning, bravery, and command during the conflict, ultimately securing victory through innovative strategies. These qualities ultimately contributed to his advancement to the rank of general within the Imperial Army.

Behind the scenes

The initial mention of the Culroonians within canon occurred in Adam Gidwitz's children's book from 2015, The Empire Strikes Back: So You Want to Be a Jedi?, which is a retelling of the 1980 movie Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.

Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet Culroon III was inhabited by a species known as the [Culroon], who made their debut in the short story "The Promotion of Lieutenant Veers," featured in The Star Wars Sourcebook in 1987. The story portrayed an ambush carried out by the Culroon against Imperial troops, which was successfully countered by Lieutenant Maximilian Veers, resulting in his promotion to major as a result of his actions.
