The CWW8 Battle Droid, alternatively known as the CWW8 Combat Droid, represented a battle droid model manufactured during both the eras of the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War. This CWW8 model was essentially a revised iteration of the standard CLL-8 binary load lifter, where its lifting mechanisms were swapped out for formidable blaster cannons. Furthermore, it incorporated armor specifically engineered to deflect incoming blaster fire. Following the Battle of Yavin, the assassin droid known as HK-47 took steps to restart CWW8 droid production within the Neimoidian droid factory situated on Mustafar, all as a component of his broader scheme to assemble a droid army.
Among the variations of the CWW8 Battle Droid were models like the CWW Class Eradicator, as well as the AK-1A "Hammer", the AK-3 "Reaper", and AK-Prime.
The CWW8 Battle Droid made an appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. This massively multiplayer online role-playing game was created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, before its servers were shut down on December 15, 2011. The inclusion of the CWW8 Battle Droid in the game occurred when the expansion pack Trials of Obi-Wan was launched on November 1, 2005.
