Dace Vinagar

Dace Vinagar served as an apprentice under Orb Telorn, a Jedi archivist. His life unfolded during the tumultuous era of the Great Sith War.

History

Seeking greater power and knowledge, Vinagar became one of the Jedi to align himself with Exar Kun. However, he refrained from participating in the uprising or directly involving himself in the conflict, choosing instead to remain with his mentor.

Following the Battle of Foerost, Vinagar and his master encountered a group of individuals claiming to be time travelers. He aided his master in the quest for information about the legendary Sith Lord Ku'ar Danar, whose tomb had been discovered by Sli'Lon Tahar. The now-deceased Jedi Master sought to prevent Danar's return.

The Jedi Order, displaying distrust toward the adventurers, imprisoned them for interrogation. Nevertheless, Telorn, with his apprentice's assistance, facilitated their escape. Subsequently, Vinagar participated in an expedition to locate the Sith tomb within the Nilrebmah system.

On Nilrebmah XIII, Vinagar assisted the adventurers in combating creatures of the Dark Side, though they observed that the beasts largely ignored him. Ultimately, he betrayed his comrades upon discovering the monolith, seizing their ship and venturing to the tomb alone to explore its secrets.

Sensing Vinagar's presence, Ku'ar Danar enticed him into the planet's depths. Danar hindered the adventurers' progress by reanimating the skeletons of the civilization he had destroyed, buying time for Dace Vinagar to enter the monolith. He then bestowed upon the apprentice his own Force abilities, enabling him to unleash dark side beasts upon his pursuers. The Fallen Jedi then revealed to his comrades that he belonged to the Brotherhood of the Sith and that he would used the power of the monolith to overthrow Exar Kun. The beasts afforded Vinagar the necessary time to complete an ancient ritual and activate the monolith, freeing the spirit of Ku'at Danar. As his body began to consume itself, Vinagar cursed the Force spirit of the Fallen Jedi, allowing his rage to amplify the ritual's power, ultimately transforming him into a colossal Hydra fueled by pure energy.

The planet commenced its collapse, hurtling toward Nilrebmah XII, and the hydra met its end when a Krath starship, under the command of Ulic Qel-Droma, shot it down, effectively ending Vinagar's existence.

Personality and traits

Dace Vinagar was a driven and opportunistic Jedi apprentice who pursued power through the Dark side of the Force. Unlike other members of the Brotherhood of the Sith, he did not slay his master, choosing instead to remain by his side. He reveled in combat and derived pleasure from killing, yet possessed the cunning to maintain a favorable public image. However, his treacherous nature ultimately sealed his fate, as his attempt to betray Exar Kun was met with another treason, that of Danar.

Power and abilities

Vinagar possessed proficiency in meditation and demonstrated competence with a lightsaber. In his final moments, he received substantial powers from Ku'ar Danar, granting him the ability to summon beasts and defend himself using Force deflection.

Behind the scenes

Dace Vinagar's character was conceived by Philippe Rat and Mehdi Sahmi for the ambiguously canon roleplaying scenario "Le Facteur X," featured in the French magazine Casus Belli 115.
