Biography

Daisy Ridley as Rey

The announcement of Ridley's casting in the Star Wars saga occurred on April 29, 2014. In addition to her film role, she provided the voice for Rey in video games like Disney Infinity 3.0, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Star Wars: Battlefront II, and also in the television show Star Wars Forces of Destiny.

Reports surfaced on August 7, 2014, confirming that Ridley would be back as Rey in both Episodes VIII and IX.

At the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, Ridley was awarded Best Breakthrough Performance for her depiction of Rey.

John Williams, the composer for Star Wars, mentioned that Ridley's "enchanting performance" as Rey played a role in his choice to return for Episode VIII, as he wanted to be the one scoring her scenes.

In 2019, with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at both Disneyland and Disney's Hollywood Studios, Ridley returned to the role for the Rise of the Resistance attraction. She appears as a holographic message for guests before the ride's mission.

During Celebration Europe 2023, the public learned that Ridley would once again play Rey in an Untitled Star Wars film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. The film takes place fifteen years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.
