Honesty, offspring of the Dalnan ambassador The people of Dalna, known as the Dalnans, consisted of both humans and Pantorans who inhabited the planet Dalna. A group of Dalnans, such as Ambassador Weft, his child Honesty, and Janex, embarked on the cruiser called Steady Wing to be present for the opening of the Starlight Beacon space station. Dalnans observed a rite of passage called Metamorphosis Trials, designed to evaluate young Dalnans on the skills needed for their desired future roles. Without these trials, a young Dalnan was not considered an adult by their society.
The Dalnan culture was notably isolationist, displaying a disinclination towards space travel, which led to infrequent departures from their home planet. However, they were not hostile to visitors. This avoidance of space travel intensified following the Great Hyperspace Disaster and continuous assaults by the Nihil pirates in the Dalna sector. Their lives were generally tranquil, centered on farming and agriculture. Yet, they also preserved a warrior tradition stemming from a civil conflict a century before the Disaster, prompting many Dalnans to acquire combat abilities in anticipation of future conflicts or to defend against pirate raids.
