Damono Deomaley

Damono Deomaley was a male humanoid of short stature. He was present within Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina on the planet Tatooine not long before the Battle of Yavin. While inside the cantina, the Jedi named Obi-Wan Kenobi and the former moisture farmer known as Luke Skywalker entered, searching for a pilot; however, they became involved in an altercation with a pair of other patrons.

Biography

The male humanoid known as Damono Deomaley frequented Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina located on the planet Tatooine in the time leading up to the Battle of Yavin. While Deomaley was present in the cantina, the Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and the former moisture farmer Luke Skywalker came in, seeking transport to the planet Alderaan. Deomaley, positioned between two human males across the bar, safely observed the confrontation between Kenobi and Skywalker and two other individuals, Ponda Baba and Doctor Cornelius Evazan. After the conflict, Deomaley spoke with one of the Tonnika sisters near the bar, while Kenobi and Skywalker were negotiating terms with Han Solo in the booth directly behind them.

Personality and traits

Deomaley was a short humanoid. He had blond hair, green eyes, and light-toned skin.

Behind the scenes

This character made an uncredited and unnamed appearance in the 1977 motion picture Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. During the "Secrets of the Mos Eisely Cantina" panel at Celebration Anaheim in 2015, Pablo Hidalgo identified the individual as being incorrectly known by the production name "Little Aunt Beru". He then allowed a fan to choose the in-universe canon name of Damono Deomaley, partly in honor of effects make-up artist Nick Maley, who contributed much background information about the UK shoot and worked on the sequence. Production notes for Episode IV created by John Mollo indicate that "Little Aunt Beru" was portrayed by the actress Gilda Cohen. However, comparisons to images on the fansite Aveleyman.com reveal that actor Jeff Moon is the one playing the character identified by Hidalgo as "Little Aunt Beru". Moon is listed in Mollo's production notes as playing one of four characters with the production name of "Local ugly man," suggesting either Mollo's notes, or Hidalgo's identification are inaccurate.
