DC0040 speeder

The DC0040 speeder was a model of civilian airspeeder engineered by Daystar Craft toward the end of the Galactic Republic's duration in its final years. Marketed as the "Intergalactic" due to its resemblance to a starship, the DC0040 was eventually superseded by the DC0052 speeder, a vehicle adopted by the Jedi Order for use in the Clone Wars.

Characteristics

Daystar Craft designed and produced the DC0040 speeder as a personal transport airspeeder for civilian use. The DC0040 incorporated design elements reminiscent of a starship and boasted a notable power-to-weight ratio.

History

Daystar Craft launched the DC0040 speeder during the waning years of the Galactic Republic, promoting it as the "Intergalactic" to highlight its power and starship-inspired design. The DC0040 was a commercial success, and the "Intergalactic" name was later applied to its successor, the DC0052 speeder, which saw exclusive use by the Jedi Order throughout the Clone Wars.

Behind the scenes

The DC0040 speeder received its initial mention in the winning Databank entry for the DC0052 speeder within the StarWars.com Hyperspace contest, "What's The Story?," which gave fans the opportunity to contribute to the Star Wars narrative. Nathan Butler, writing under the pseudonym Nathan (ChronoRadio), and "'The Dark Moose," authored the DC0052 entry, with "The Dark Moose" contributing the majority of the information, including the paragraph referencing the DC0040. Subsequently, the DC0040 was referenced in Daystar Craft's entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.
