Din was a star that once resided within the Din system. This system was located in the Outer Moddell systems region of the Moddell sector, itself a subsectors of the Inner Zuma Region situated inside the Outer Rim Territories' Zuma sector. The Din system was positioned near the hyperlane called the Trindello-Endor Route, providing a connection to both the Endor and Trindello systems. The name 'Din' was inspired by the artistic expressions and songs created by the Sanyassan species from the Sanyassa system.
Before its destruction in a supernova around 5000 BBY, Din had three planets of the gas giant variety in orbit. The supernova event completely disintegrated any inner planets that Din may have possessed and caused the extensive atmospheres of the gas giants to evaporate, leaving behind only their bare cores. Notably, one of these cores had transformed into a diamond comparable in size to a terrestrial world, a result of the immense pressure within the planet's atmosphere. After the supernova, what remained was an energetic pulsar alongside an expanding nebulosity composed of red gases.
The initial mention of Din occurred in the "Endor and the Moddell Sector" article, featured in the ninth issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine, released on February 22, 2002. In 2009, The Essential Atlas, a reference book, pinpointed the location of the Din system, and consequently the former star, at grid coordinate H-16.
