The galactic region referred to as the Inner Zuma Region existed above the galactic plane. It was situated on top of the galactic area called the Outer Zuma. Its position was along the dividing line between the Outer Rim Territories and a section of the Unknown Regions referred to as Wild Space. The Inner Zuma consisted of three sectors in the galaxy: Moddell, Spar, and Ablajeck. A significant portion of the Inner Zuma remained unmapped until approximately 1,000 years prior to the Battle of Yavin. In the centuries leading up to the Battle of Yavin, both the Inner and Outer Zuma were regarded as part of the Unknown Regions. This changed as explorers started to survey their locations, thus expanding the limits of charted space. Nevertheless, disturbances within the Hyperspacial Continuum in this zone resulted in numerous expeditions disappearing and the development of sluggish and perilous routes for travel.
