In 8 ABY, Doctor Lancer Brunou maintained a log, meticulously documenting the advancements and discoveries of MS-133. This science group served Moff Kentor Sarne, the Imperial warlord commanding the Kathol sector. MS-133, under Brunou's direction, embarked on an archaeological mission to the planet Aaris III. Their objective: to determine the cause of the extinction of the indigenous sentient species known as the Aaris. Over a period of months, Brunou diligently chronicled the team's progress and findings within the log. This included the unearthing of an artifact crafted from a metal unknown to Imperial scientific knowledge. Subsequent to the artifact's discovery, the team faced an assault from the primitive descendants of the Aaris. Brunou was one of only two survivors from the team, later rescued from the planet by the New Republic corvette FarStar.

In 8 ABY, the Imperial warlord of the Kathol sector, Moff Kentor Sarne, tasked a science team, known as MS-133, with undertaking an archaeological expedition to a series of ancient ruins located on the planet Aaris III. Doctor Lancer Brunou was selected to spearhead this team, whose primary mission was to uncover the reason behind the extinction of the Aaris, the native sentient species of the planet. Brunou diligently recorded the team's daily activities and progress over several months. On the expedition's 49th day, Brunou documented the discovery of a metal ingot within a secure floor vault, found during their exploration of a ruined structure.
In the days that followed, Brunou's journal detailed the findings from tests conducted on the artifact. These tests revealed that the artifact was composed of a substance entirely unknown to Imperial science. Furthermore, the chamber where the artifact was discovered was adorned with bas-relief pictographs. These pictographs emitted sounds when touched, leading to the belief that they represented an auditory history of the Aaris civilization. Two scientists from the team, Grigor Tansad and Jelok, were assigned to translate these pictographs. Despite these significant discoveries, Brunou noted a growing sense of paranoia within the team, with members feeling as though they were being watched from the surrounding jungle, despite the absence of any apparent sentient life on the planet. Unbeknownst to the team, the artifact they had unearthed contained a sentient entity that thrived by consuming the life force of living beings. This entity sought to destroy them by manipulating their emotions, inciting violence. As the team members succumbed to the artifact's influence, they were ambushed by the primitive descendants of the Aaris. The Aaris recognized the artifact as the Plaque of Victory, and its influence had triggered the downfall of their civilization millennia prior.
The team began to suffer casualties from the Aaris' attacks, and their shuttle was destroyed. Brunou and the remaining survivors fortified their position and transmitted a distress signal to Sarne's capital, Kal'Shebbol, desperately requesting rescue. However, during the team's time on the planet, Kal'Shebbol had fallen to the New Republic, forcing Sarne to retreat into the depths of the Kathol sector with the majority of his forces. Ultimately, Brunou, along with his research assistant Solla Deremot, were rescued from the planet by the crew of the New Republic CR90 corvette FarStar, who had intercepted their plea for assistance. With Brunou's consent, the crew examined the journal to understand the events that had unfolded on the planet.
Doctor Lancer Brunou's journal was featured in Artifact of Aaris, the second roleplaying game adventure scenario released as part of The DarkStryder Campaign in 1995. The adventure includes several excerpts from the journal, which provide background information about MS-133's discovery of the Plaque of Victory.
