Dono (Squib)

Dono, a Squib from Squib Reclamation Fleet, was considered a secret agent who covertly sent the coordinates of the Imperial Armored Transport Elusive to the fleet. This allowed them to follow the Imperial ship and collect the discarded waste before it entered hyperspace. However, the Elusive's crew perceived Dono as nothing more than a slave. Sometime between the years of 0 and 2 ABY, following a battle in the Dankayo system against Rebel Alliance forces, Dono transmitted the transport's jump coordinates to the Squib fleet.

Biography

Dono served aboard the Imperial Armored Transport Elusive.

The Squib known as Dono, though regarded as a slave by the crew of the Imperial Armored Transport Elusive, was considered a spy by the Squib Reclamation Fleet. Living and working on the Elusive, Dono seized the opportunity to transmit the vessel's location data to the Thrifty, the Squib Momship and also the flagship of the fleet. This enabled the galactic scavengers to recover the Imperial ship's refuse, which was discarded before each hyperspace jump, as per standard Imperial procedure. Dono maintained the secrecy of these transmissions by utilizing a pirate-band signal and communicating in Old High Squibbian, a specific language.

During the period between 0 and 2 ABY, Dono was present on the Elusive within the Dankayo system. During this time the ship's Imperial crew was attacked by a Lambda-class shuttle crewed by Rebel Alliance operatives. As the Elusive ejected its waste into space and initiated a jump to lightspeed, Dono diligently sent the coordinates of its subsequent destination to the Squib fleet, ensuring they could retrieve the discarded materials.

Personality and traits

Dono, like others in the Squib fleet, viewed their assignment aboard the Elusive as an undercover operation. The Squib faithfully transmitted the armored transport's location, enabling the Squib Reclamation Fleet to follow and recover its discarded rubbish. Dono possessed fluency in at least two languages: Old High Squibbian and Basic. However, the secret agent's proficiency in the latter language exhibited the characteristic inflection common among members of the Squib species.

Behind the scenes

Dono is referenced within the roleplaying adventure titled Scavenger Hunt. It was authored by Brad Freeman, and released by West End Games in 1989 as a component of Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. While Dono doesn't make a direct appearance in the narrative, the Squib secret agent is mentioned in relation to the message sent to their compatriots on the Thrifty. The adventure does not specify Dono's gender and leaves it ambiguous whether Dono is the Squib's actual name or a code name utilized exclusively for these communications.
