Dren Nord, a Human of the male variety, functioned as a surgeon within the ranks of the Alliance Fleet throughout the Galactic Civil War. Seeking a change of pace, he put in a request for a transfer to Alliance Special Operations, subsequently finding himself under the leadership of Major T'Charek Haathi.
As the youngest of four siblings, Nord spent his formative years within a family deeply involved in politics. He leveraged these connections to gain entry into a top-tier medical institution located in the Inner Rim, as well as secure highly sought-after intern positions. Following the destruction of Alderaan, the Rebel Alliance recruited him, tasking him with leading a surgical unit aboard a medical frigate. While tending to a captivating patient, he discovered that she held Alliance Special Operations in higher regard than medical professionals. This realization spurred Nord to request a transfer. Despite lacking combat expertise, he utilized his connections to secure an assignment to Haathi's team.
Nord accompanied his team to Zelos II with the objective of stealing a ship. While Ivhin Jayme and Morgan Q. Raventhorn worked on breaching the security systems, he maintained surveillance over the guards patrolling the starport. Being inexperienced in field operations, he questioned Haathi about her strategy to commandeer the light freighter The Maker. He expressed concern regarding her focus on the freighter, given that it was more heavily guarded compared to other vessels in the starport. Once Jayme successfully gained access to the docking bay, he allowed Nord and the rest of the team to enter, enabling them to circumvent the freighter's security measures and proceed with the theft. Nord sought cover behind a crate, vigilantly monitoring the guards to ensure they remained unaware of the team's presence. He voiced his apprehension about Haathi's excessive risk-taking and attempted to persuade Jayme to reason with her. After Haathi was incapacitated by the stun steps on the boarding ramp to the freighter, Nord emerged from his hiding spot to assess her condition and determine if she required medical attention. This action resulted in the guards spotting him, leading them to open fire on the team. During the ensuing blaster fight, Nord panicked and inadvertently switched his blaster settings from stun to kill. Haathi promptly ordered him to revert to stun and instructed Jayme to stun Nord if he refused to comply. Nord complied, switching back to non-lethal fire, and swiftly boarded the freighter upon Haathi's command. He then sought refuge in the freighter's rear storage bay.
