Droid Hunt

Droid Hunt is an adventure idea for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, 2nd ed., classified as an adventure seed. Bill Olmesdahl is the author, and it originally appeared in the 1992 book Star Wars Gamemaster Screen. The "Droid Hunt" scenario is presented as an illustration of a "quest" type of adventure.

Plot summary

A group of spacers have been contracted by the Karflo Corporation to look into the vanishing of a costly StelProbe V exploration/contact droid. This droid was dispatched to the distant world called Wizar II. Upon reaching the planet, the spacers learn that the droid has been seized by the indigenous inhabitants, a simple species referred to as the Uroths. These Uroths apparently consider the droid to be their deity of death, and they are prepared to defend it at all costs. The spacers, despite this, are successful in retrieving the droid and giving it back to Karflo.

Behind the scenes

Olmesdahl provides different versions of the adventure's basic structure. One version features Rebel Alliance agents in place of freelance spacers. Their mission is to secure the StelProbe V for the Alliance to study. A further possibility involves pitting the player characters against competing droid recovery teams. Lastly, the droid's power core could be failing, which would result in a rapid meltdown with catastrophic effects for Wizar II.
