Droid scout ship
This scout ship, a type of droid-piloted vessel, had the mission of **scout**ing the planet of Jakku. Its departure was planned for the day after the attack on Tuanul. F3-ZK, a loading droid, was supposed to be collected at the Starship Graveyard by this very droid ship. However, F3-ZK was ensnared in a trap orchestrated by Teedo. BB-8 came to Fez's rescue, and following several mishaps, Fez managed to reach his designated ship. While Fez boarded, BB-8 created a diversion to distract Teedo, allowing the ship to successfully leave Jakku.
Behind the scenes
The droid scout ship made its initial debut in the young readers' book BB-8 on the Run, which was released in 2017. This book was authored by Drew Daywalt and featured illustrations by Matt Myers. The ship's design is strikingly similar to that of the light freighter known as the Dusty Duck. This freighter was featured in a scene that was ultimately cut from Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, a film from the prequel trilogy released in 1999.
