The significant conflict known as the Duinuogwuin Contention unfolded in 15,500 BBY, pitting the Galactic Republic against the Duinuogwuin species. Republic exploration teams initially encountered the Duinuogwuin, also referred to as "Star Dragons." The scouts, unnerved by their formidable appearance, swiftly retreated to the Republic's seat of power, Coruscant. Subsequently, numerous Duinuogwuin pursued them through the void and assailed the capital planet, an assault that ceased only when Supreme Chancellor Fillorean successfully negotiated a truce.
During the Indecta Era, the Galactic Republic embarked on missions to explore the cosmos and discover new forms of life. In 15,500 BBY, Republic scouting parties, venturing into the Outer Rim, made initial contact with the Duinuogwuin, commonly called "Star Dragons," in the vicinity of the planet Murkhana. These Duinuogwuin were fifty-meter long beings capable of interstellar flight and breathing atomic fire, eliciting fear from the scouts. This inaugural meeting proved disastrous, sparking a conflict between the Duinuogwuin race and the Galactic Republic.
The scouts rapidly retreated to the Republic's capital, Coruscant. Hundreds of Duinuogwuin, reacting to this initial encounter, trailed the scout vessels through space, and upon their arrival at the capital, they launched an attack. The Duinuogwuin devastated Galactic City, unleashing their atomic fire and causing widespread destruction, which generated apprehension among the Core Worlds. Supreme Chancellor Fillorean successfully negotiated a peaceful resolution, bringing the Duinuogwuin Contention to a close by engaging with the Duinuogwuin philosopher Borz'Mat'oh.
Following the establishment of peace, Fillorean and Borz'Mat'oh jointly established the University of Coruscant, a long-lasting academic institution. Statues honoring both Fillorean and Borz'Mat'oh were erected on the main campus. Subsequently, Coruscant became recognized as the central point of the Duinuogwuin Contention.
