Dunc T'racen, a warrior of the Mistryl Shadow Guard, served as the junior partner to Shada D'ukal in 8 ABY. She worked alongside Shada as the co-pilot and gunner of their ship, The Fury.
Dunc possessed a similar professional demeanor to Shada and carried a comparable collection of personal weapons, including vibroblades and blasters. However, she appeared less experienced in battle and maintained a belief in the Shadow Guard as something more than just mercenaries. Her youthful idealism was perhaps accentuated by her fair complexion and delicate features.
Around the time that Han Solo kidnapped Princess Leia Organa and took her to Dathomir, The Fury accepted a contract for 20,000 credits to transport Fenig Nabon and Ghitsa Dogder with a shipment from Leb'Reen on Ryloth to Nal Hutta. Dunc anticipated the cargo to be ryll kor intended for medical purposes but was appalled to discover that it was actually a group of Twi'lek dancers, bound to the Shak clan, being sold into what was essentially slavery to Durga the Hutt.
Throughout the journey, Ghitsa constantly provoked Dunc, and the situation worsened when the Karazak Slavers Cooperative vessel Indenture attempted to seize The Fury and steal their living cargo. Shada and Dunc made the decision to free the slaves, unceremoniously dumping Fenig and Ghitsa in an escape pod. They then discovered that this had been the intended outcome all along, and they had been unknowingly used to help their passengers in an elaborate scheme.
The character Dunc T'racen is based upon the fan Tracy Duncan. Authors Tish Pahl and Chris Cassidy knew her as the web administrator of Club Jade.
