Dynamet General Hospital

Dynamet General, a medical facility, existed on the planet of Taris and is considered a hospital. Initially named Mercy General, it rose to prominence as the galaxy's leading research center for uncommon neurological ailments, notably Cathington's Disorder. Around 4050 BBY, following a generous donation from the Dynamet Corporation to construct a research wing focused on finding a cure for the rakghoul plague, the hospital was renamed in the corporation's honor. During the destruction of Taris in 3956 BBY, the hospital was obliterated, and the surrounding vicinity became known as the Sinking City.

Three centuries following its destruction, during the era of the Cold War, only three floors of the hospital remained structurally sound. The rakghouls inhabiting the region had established a breeding ground within the hospital's ruins, reacting aggressively to any trespassers. Doctor Synoda dispatched an individual aligned with the Republic to retrieve medical records of Taris' inhabitants predating the planet's destruction. This mission aimed to gather research regarding Colu's syndrome, a devastating cancer affecting only the descendants of those who survived the Destruction of Taris.

By the time of the invasion of Taris in 3642 BBY, the Republic had successfully eradicated the rakghoul infestation within the hospital and intended to restore the facility. However, forces from the Sith Empire sabotaged the hospital, contaminating the remaining kolto tanks with the rakghoul virus.
