Elgit, a relatively insignificant trade world, existed within the Elgit system. This system resided in the Hutt Space sector of the galaxy's expanse. Situated on the hyperlane known as The Dead Road, Elgit had connections to both Zisia and Usk. Additionally, the Elgit–M'Hanna Corridor provided a link between Elgit and Sakifwanna, and a hyperspace route also connected the trade planet to the Gos Hutta system.
Elgit functioned as a distribution center for items intended for the Bootana Hutta area within Hutt Space. The fleet commanded by Troonol, a member of the Hutt species, regularly monitored the hyperlanes leading to Elgit.
The first mention of Elgit appeared in The Essential Atlas, a reference book published in 2009. Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace co-authored this book, and it located the planet in grid square T-10.
